<br><br>Alexander Danilovich Fadeev (1910-1987) – Colonel of the Soviet Army, participant of the Great Patriotic War, Hero of the Soviet Union (1945).<br>Biography<br>Alexander Fadeev was born on December 21, 1910 in the village of (now the Oktyabrsky District of the Volgograd Region). After graduating from the seven classes of the school and the communist school, he worked first as a tractor driver, then as the chairman of the village council, deputy director of the machine and tractor station. In 1932-1935 he served in the Workers ‚and Peasants’ Red Army. In 1940, Fadeev graduated from the courses of the of the reserve. In 1941 he was recruited into the army. Since 1942 – on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. In 1944, Fadeev graduated from the Higher Officer Armored School.<br><br>By April 1945, Guards Major Alexander Fadeev commanded the 400th Guards Self-Propelled Artillery Regiment of the 8th Guards Mechanized Corps of the 1st Guards Tank Army of the 1st Belorussian Front. Distinguished himself during the Berlin operation. On April 16, 1945, Fadeev’s regiment, by its actions, supported parts of the corps during the of the German defense from the bridgehead on the of the Oder, inflicting heavy losses on the enemy, and was among the first to enter Berlin.<br><br>By the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of May 31, 1945, Major Alexander Fadeev was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal.<br><br>After the end of the war, Fadeev continued to serve in the Soviet Army. In 1947 he graduated from advanced training courses for officers. In 1961, with the rank of colonel, Fadeev was transferred to the reserve. Lived in Volgograd.<br><br>He died on December 19, 1987.<br><br>He was also awarded two Orders of the Red Banner, two Orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree, the Order of the Patriotic War of the 2nd degree and three Orders of the Red Star, and a number of medals.<br>
