<br><br>Valentin Alekseevich Beglov (March 19, 1922 – March 7, 1945) – Soviet officer, participant of the Great Patriotic War, of the 959th Infantry Regiment of the 309th Infantry Division of the 6th Army of the 1st Ukrainian Front. Hero of the Soviet Union (06/27/1945), captain.<br>Biography<br>Born on March 19, 1922 in the of Ogarevskie Vyselki, now in the of the Ryazan region, in a peasant family. Russian. In 1941 he graduated from the Ryazan Construction College, began his labor activity as a construction technician at the Putyatinsky district health department of the Ryazan region.<br><br>In July 1941, he was drafted into the Red Army by the Ryazan city military registration and enlistment office and sent to the Far East. In 1942 he graduated from the Shkotov Military Infantry School, in 1943 – courses „Shot“. Member of the CPSU (b) since 1943.<br><br>In the battles of the Great Patriotic War since August 1943. He fought on the Voronezh and 1st Ukrainian fronts. The entire combat path passed as part of the 959th rifle regiment of the 309th rifle division as the deputy commander of the rifle battalion, then the battalion commander. Participated in battles during the crossing of the Dnieper River and in the Right-Bank Ukraine, for the liberation of Poland and at the Sandomierz bridgehead. He was wounded four times, but always returned to his regiment.<br><br>In February 1945, the battalion under the command of Captain Beglov was the first to break through the heavily fortified enemy defenses on the Oder River and burst into the city of Lignitz (Legnitz, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, Poland). In the battles for the city, the battalion commander was twice wounded, but remained in the ranks. The battalion in these battles destroyed: 480 enemy soldiers and took 320 prisoners, 78 machine guns, 320 vehicles, 12 mortars, 4 guns, 2 anti-aircraft guns, 70 motorcycles and more than 300 machine guns and rifles.<br><br>In the battles for the city of Breslau (Wroclaw, Poland), the battalion was again the first to break into the city, where it successfully repelled all enemy counterattacks. The battalion commander inspired the fighters by personal example, was wounded again, but did not leave the battlefield until the battalion completed its combat mission.
