Day of Special Forces of Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia
Story
The day of the special forces of the Interior Ministry troops can rightfully be considered December 29. It was on this day (December 29, not August 29), in 1977, that a special-purpose training company (URSN) was created, on the basis of which the famous Vityaz forces detachment later arose.

The first company commander was Captain V.A.Maltsev, and one of the was Lieutenant Sergei Lysyuk. made it possible to prepare the company for the Olympics to perform the assigned tasks with high quality. The company at that time often trained together with the group „A“ of the KGB of the USSR (Alpha), which was being created at that time. The URSN fighters were superior to the Alpha in physical fitness, but the Alpha fighters were better in firepower. It should be recalled here that officers served in „Alpha“, and „conscripts“ served in the URSN.

Sergei Lysyuk recalls: „I always addressed a normal soldier with ‚you.’ , the soldier immediately felt the attitude of the commander and, if not stupid, made conclusions. This could not be called familiarity, since then we were a community of people, going to the same goal and charged with one idea. Most of the soldiers felt, understood this and never crossed the line And those who nevertheless crossed this line were quickly put in place, and most often the soldiers and sergeants themselves. „

At the first stage, a program was created, which provided for actions in various emergency situations at the Olympic Games, namely, during the taking of hostages in ground transport, in an airplane. The materials of the program were based on the experience and best practices of the KGB special forces, the Airborne Forces, and foreign anti-terrorist units.

The maroon beret became the symbol of the new unit that distinguishes it from others. An exam for the right to wear a maroon beret was also invented there.

In the early 90s, when the situation in the country was rapidly changing, 3 more special forces detachments were created – „Rosich“, „Rus“ and „Skif“. In addition, as part of operational units (in fact, motorized rifle units) there were special forces (GOS). Thus, the 22nd brigade (Kalach-na-Donu) included the Alligator seeker, the 34th brigade (Shumilovo) included the Werewolf seeker. Each company had 3 platoons – the 1st and 2nd spetsnaz platoons were trained for assault missions, while the 3rd platoon was prepared for reconnaissance missions.

In June 1995, the Rus special task force took part in the hostage rescue operation in Budennovsk. Six months later, in January 1996, the Vityaz and Rus special-purpose detachments, together with a special-purpose group of the 1st special-purpose regiment, took part in an operation to storm the village of Pervomayskoye, which was captured by a group of militants of Salman Raduev.

After the end of the first Chechen campaign, the formation of new special forces units began. They were created at the expense of the number of special-purpose groups liquidated in brigades and regiments. So, the 15th special forces detachment „Vyatich“ was created on the basis of 3 special-purpose groups. The 20th special forces detachment (Saratov) arose on the basis of the Werewolf special purpose group, which was withdrawn from the 34th brigade.

On October 24, 2014, a ceremony was held in Simferopol dedicated to the assignment of the name „Rus“ to the 35th reconnaissance detachment of the North Caucasus Regional Command of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
